Tweet-a-meet with Qatar Airways
Qatar Airways are taking their Tweeters travelling! In an innovative Tweet-a-Meet campaign, the airline is offering two friends, separated by distance, the opportunity to physically meet in one of their favourite travel locations. The campaign asks followers to pick a Twitter follower to team up with, and Tweet about one of the 117 Qatar airline destinations around the world using the hashtag #tweetameet, in order to potentially win tickets to the destination. Each Tweet must contain relevant facts about the destination of choice, with the first three Twitter teams with the most Tweets being awarded a pair of business class tickets!

New buzzwords crop up at Arab media summit
The fourth Arab Media Outlook 2011 – 2015 organised by Dubai Media City and Dubai Press club recently released the reoccurring “buzzwords” used during the panel discussions. The buzzwords include “definition”, “unification” and “regulation” pointing to the fact that the Arab media is changing on a rapid basis with the onslaught of social media in the region, posing questions such as “What’s local media? What’s local content? Is the local content good enough?” according to a recent report in Gulf News.

Little Monsters; The Social Network
Lady Gaga opened her social media page to all her little monsters this week! Littlemonster.com, a mash-up of Pinterest, Facebook and Reddit, looks to “create an experience where language barriers [are] no longer barriers and where Gaga can communicate with fans in different countries and languages” according to Co-Founder and Backplane CEO Matt Michelsen.
Fans and followers are expected to flock to the site in their millions, with Gaga’s social media presence already topping 26 million followers on Twitter, 52.6 million on Facebook, and 2.8 million on Google+.
